Il 4 ottobre 2018, Ariana ha pubblicato un'anteprima di 45 secondi sul suo profilo Instagram con la didascalia "tell me how good it feels to be needed".[3]
Il 5 novembre 2018, Ariana ha postato una seconda anteprima insieme a un video di Piggy Smallz nelle sue storie Instagram.[4] La canzone è stata anche mostrata nel video musicale pubblicato il 7 novembre 2018 per il singolo "Breathin", estratto dal quarto album in studio di Ariana, Sweetener.[5] Il 15 novembre, Ariana ha condiviso un video di lei che canta una parte di "Needy" con un piano.[6]
