Annie is a musical based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan. Ariana Grande's first role in a play was when she was eight years old in this musical with the little palm family theater in South Florida.[1] She had the role of Annie, but wanted to play the role of Miss Hanigan.[2] Joan Grande participated as a cast member in the production as it was Ariana's first musical, which Joan described as "the most rewarding time i've spent with her."
