Ava had talked with a pop news media outlet and said that her dream collaboration was one with Grande. She said "I love her. I recently met her backstage at a Gwen Stefani concert in Las Vegas. She is honestly the sweetest, nicest human. I just want to be friends with her. She’s the coolest chick ever."[1]

Max had also mentioned Grande as one of her inspirations after being asked about it at the Billboard's Women in Music event on December 6, 2018, in New York City. She said "I love Ariana Grande, I mean, I think she has incredible confidence and she's gone through a lot of hardships, so y'know I love that about her". And when asked about the "Thank U, Next" music video, she said it was incredible and that she loved everything about Grande.[2]

They have both worked with stylist Mimi Cuttrell, and hired Darrion Gallegos to dance in their music videos. Both have also written songs with Charlie Puth and preformed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
