"Be Alright" is the third track from Ariana Grande's third studio album, Dangerous Woman. It was released through Republic Records as a promotional single on March 18, 2016. The song peaked at #3 on the iTunes US charts within 24 hours of release and debuted and peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A live version of the song is featured on K Bye For Now (SWT Live), which was released on December 23, 2019.

Background

On June 17, 2015, Grande finished recording this song and shared two snippets on her Snapchat that night.. On January 6, 2016, Grande posted a picture of presumably part of the track listing of her third album written on a whiteboard, and the opening song was "Be Alright." However, the opening track was later decided to be "Moonlight". On January 20, 2016, Grande shared 2 more snippets of the song on her Snapchat account and shared the lyrics that were in the teasers the next day.

On February 25, 2016, Grande confirmed that she would be performing "Be Alright" on March 12, 2016 on Saturday Night Live. On February 27, 2016, a short snippet was posted of the opening of the song. On February 29, 2016, as requested by a fan on Twitter, Grande did an acapella version of the beginning of the song together with a few of her friends during a live stream. During the live stream, Grande confirmed that nobody would be featured in it. On March 11, 2016, Grande announced on Ryan Seacrest that "Be Alright" would be released on March 18, 2016. On March 12, 2016, Grande performed this song on Saturday Night Live. On March 18, 2016, Grande released "Be Alright" as a promotional single from Dangerous Woman.

Live performances

Grande performed "Be Alright" for the first time during the 41st season of Saturday Night Live on March 12, 2016. The performance had Grande with her dancers doing a "Vogue-filled" choreography. "Be Alright" was performed during Grande's set on the 2016 Wango Tango and Vevo Sessions. "Be Alright" was also added on the Dangerous Woman Tour as the opening song. Grande opened the One Love Manchester benefit concert with "Be Alright" on June 4, 2017. She also performed the song at the A Concert For Charlottesville benefit gig on September 24, 2017.

Grande also performed the song at the March For Our Lives demonstration on March 24, 2018, in Washington, D.C. On June 14, 2018, she performed the song at the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Grande performed the song in a capella version at the Sweetener Sessions on August 22, 2018 in Chicago.

The song is a regular part of the setlist of Grande's Sweetener World Tour, which began on March 18, 2019

Trivia

• After "Be Alright" was released in March 2016, a producer named Mura Masa accused the song of sounding similar to his 2015 song "Firefly." The liner notes of Dangerous Woman now include credit to "Firefly" as a result.
• Grande opened the Dangerous Woman Tour setlist with this song and worked with frequent collaborator Hannah Lux Davis to film special footage featuring her and her dancers that plays on the screen behind the stage.
• Grande said on Instagram on August 24, 2017 that "Be Alright" is her favorite song from any of the three albums she has released (Yours Truly, My Everything and Dangerous Woman).
• Grande performed "Be Alright" on March 24, 2018 at March For Our Lives in Washington, D.C. since the last show of Dangerous Woman Tour in 2017.
