"Bed" is a song by rapper Nicki Minaj featuring Ariana Grande. It was released on June 14, 2018, as the second official single from Minaj's fourth studio album, Queen.[1][2] It was released through Young Money and Cash Money Records.
Background[]
In May 2018, Grande revealed through her Twitter that Minaj called her in the morning and recorded what would be their next musical collaboration.[3]
On June 4, Grande replied to a follower on twitter that there would be more than one collaboration between her and Minaj during 2018.[4] One week later, Minaj announced through her Instagram account the title and the release date of the single on June 11, 2018, and said it will be available with the pre-order of her fourth studio album, Queen.[5]
Music video[]
The music video for the song was teased on June 14, 2018.[6] On June 19, 2018, a teaser of the music video was uploaded on Minaj's YouTube channel.[7] On July 6, 2018, Minaj revealed that there are two music videos for the song as "there were 2 directors involved".[8] That same day, one of the music videos was uploaded on Minaj's YouTube channel.
Commercial performance[]
"Bed" debuted at number 43 on the US Billboard Hot 100 after a full week of tracking, with 19,000 downloads sold and 12 million streams. The song became Minaj's 91st entry on the chart, extending her record for most Hot 100 visits among women and tying James Brown for the seventh-best sum overall.[9] It fell 24 positions to number 67 in its second week.[10] In its fourth week, it rose to number 48,[11] and later reached a peak of number 42 after her album Queen was released.
"Bed" also reached the top 20 lists in Australia, Scotland, and the United Kingdom.
