"Close Friends" (stylized in all lowercase) is an unreleased writers reference sung by Victoria Monét that was intended for the deluxe edition of Ariana Grande's fifth studio album, Thank U, Next.
Background[]
The song was recorded back in 2019, but the title surfaced in 2020, when an image showing several unreleased song titles leaked. It was on poll being sold with a batch of other unreleased songs. However, a few of them turned out to be fake, in an attempt to seem exclusive. But some of the songs listed were in fact real, like this one.
This song was also claimed to be the same song as Like That by one seller, however this later turned out to be false. The seller did not have all the accurate information and other sellers confirmed that they were two separate songs.
Later, an image was shared by a seller showing a batch of unreleased songs that were unknown at the time. The list included "Confused" and "Could Be Us". Multiple sellers have claimed to have the song, but stated that it was just a writers demo and a version that was recorded by Ariana most likely does not exist/would be a mumble concept.
