The Met Gala, or Met Ball (formally known as the Costume Institute Gala or the Costume Institute Benefit) is an annual fundraising gala held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It is popularly regarded as the world's most prestigious fashion event, and an invitation is highly sought after. Celebrities from various professional spheres, such as fashion, film, television, theater, music, business, sports, social media, and politics, are invited to attend the gala which is organized by Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine, Vogue.

2018 — Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination[]

In 2018, Ariana attended the Met Gala for the first time and only time so far. The Gala that year was sponsored by Versace, Christine, and Stephen A Schwartzman.

Ariana wore a dress designed by Vera Wang and a large tan bow on her head. She used her Met Gala look to tease her next single from her album Sweetener, "God Is A Woman".
