Grande confirmed "Get Well Soon" on May 17, 2018, in her interview for TIME Magazine's 'Next Generation Leaders'. Like I [am] outside my body? [It] was very scary and I couldn't breathe well. So it's about that. And lots of voices in my head singing. I hope it comforts people who hear it, please".[6]

On June 1, Grande replied to a fan on Twitter that "Get Well Soon" is the fifteenth track on the album.[2] On June 7, 2018, Grande said that "Get Well Soon" is the longest track on the album.

On July 3, 2018, Grande posted a screenshot of her listening to the song on her Instagram story, confirming that the song's length was 5:22. On July 8, 2018, Pharrell posted a snippet of him singing the song on his Instagram story. On the same day, Grande posted a 40-second-snippet of the song on her social media.

Lyrics

You can feel it, feel it
They say my system is overloaded
Girl what’s wrong with you?
Come back down

I’m with you, I’m with you, I’m with you
Just call me no matter the issue, no matter what
And if it ain't one thing, it's another
And you need someone to pull you out the bubble
I'll be right there

You can work your way to the top, yeah
Just know that there’s up and downs and just drops
Unfollow fear and just say "You are blocked," yeah
Just know there is so much room at the top
