Amethyst Amelia Kelly, better known as Iggy Azalea, is an Australian rapper, songwriter, and model. She is a friend of Ariana Grande and is featured on the single "Problem".
Born in Sydney and raised in Mullumbimby, Azalea moved to the United States at the age of 16 to pursue a career in hip hop music, residing in the southern part of the country. She earned public recognition after releasing YouTube music videos for her songs "Pu$$y" and "Two Times". She signed a record contract with T.I.'s imprint Grand Hustle Records in 2012, after gaining attention from her debut mixtape Ignorant Art.
Friendship
- They presented the award for Best Male in the 2013 MTV EMAs[1] which was where they first met. Ariana said they "really hit it off".
- Ariana said she was a fan of Iggy's since her single "Work" was put out. She added that Iggy was "so sensible and down-to-earth and talented."[2]
- Ariana downloaded Iggy's debut album on April 22, 2014.[3]
- The two girls collaborated on Ariana's single "Problem".
- Ariana said about Iggy, "It's so funny because her lyrics are so wild and so gangster and then she's so sensible and lady-like [in real life]. I love that about her. She's so proper and I think it's so hilarious."[4]
- Iggy said about Ariana, "I would like to steal Ariana and then ride on a unicorn."
- In February 2018, Iggy revealed she hadn't talked to Ariana lately, but saw Pharrell Williams producing some "bangers" for her.
- In an interview, Iggy described Ariana in 3 words: "Firecracker, cutie, and fluffy cloud.”[5]
