On August 10, 2016, Diplo posted on his Snapchat that he was working with Ariana on an new song.[1] 12 Days later, a fan met Diplo at the Airport and asked him what the name of the song is they worked on and he said "In Your Hands".[2] Ariana Grande also released a small snippet, a few days later, of her and Diplo in the studio with her.

On January 9, 2018, it was confirmed the song would be featured on Major Lazer's album scheduled to be release on March 16, 2018.
