K Bye For Now (SWT Live) (stylized in lowercase) is Ariana Grande's first live album, released on December 22, 2019, through Republic Records. The album was recorded between March 18 and October 16, 2019, and documents her Sweetener World Tour.
Background
On October 17, 2019, Grande revealed on Twitter that she was working on a live album from the Sweetener World Tour and shared a photo revealing that she was mixing "God Is A Woman".[1]
On November 5, 2019, Grande Tweeted a snippet of "R.E.M" from the live album.[2]
On December 1, 2019, Grande said that she was very excited for the live album after she had been prepping the vocals and listening to all of the band parts which Johnny produced and she produced the vocals of the whole album and that the deadline for the album was soon.[3]
On December 7, 2019, Grande said she had been sitting in her car approving mixes for the live album all morning.[4] She also said that you can clearly hear someone scream the word "period" at the end of "Fake Smile".[5]
On December 10, 2019, Grande confirmed that the album was coming out before the end of the year and that only content from the first two legs of the tour would be featured.[6][7] She also confirmed that "Get Well Soon", "Goodnight N Go" and "Only 1" would all be on the album and that it would be available everywhere digitally.[8][9][10]
On December 11, 2019, Grande made the album available to pre-save along with a snippet of "Goodnight N Go".[11] Grande also said that a lot of the audience noise picked up on her microphone and made it sound special.[12] She also confirmed that she wanted the release date and title to be a surprise and that we had already seen the album cover.[13][14] None of the Coachella audio is featured on the album as they didn't have the files.[15] The track listing was also revealed on Grande's Instagram story.
On December 12, 2019, Grande confirmed that she had been mastering the album that week.[16]
On December 17, 2019, Grande revealed that the album was "coming soon".[17] She also confirmed that it wouldn't be released on December 25.[18]
On December 22, 2019, Grande revealed that the album would be released that night.[19] She later tweeted the name.
Trivia
- Whilst aptly titled "Thank U, Next", the final track of the album includes the prelude to the song before the actual song itself.
- It has the most songs on any album Grande has ever released.
