Kelendria Trene Rowland (known by her stagename Kelly Rowland, born February 11, 1981) is an American singer, dancer, and actress.

Background[]

Rowland signed to Columbia Records in 1997 with her group Destiny's Child. They debuted with a soundtrack song "Killing Time" for "Men in Black" in 1997, and later that year released their debut single "No, No, No", which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their debut, self-titled album was released on February 17, 1998, and later their multi-platinum sophomore album, The Writing's on the Wall was released in 1999. This album featured songs like "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Say My Name", which won several awards, most notably the Best R&B Song at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards. Destiny's Child's third studio album, Survivor was released on May 1, 2001.
