"Let Me Love You" is the sixth track from Ariana Grande's third studio album, Dangerous Woman. It features rapper Lil Wayne. It was released through Republic Records as the second promotional single from the album on April 18, 2016.[1]
Background
On January 6, 2016, Grande posted a picture on Snapchat of her song board.[2] One of the songs was cut off and only the letters "LM" could be seen. Fans speculated it was an acronym or an abbreviation. When the preorder for Dangerous Woman went up on March 11, 2016, "Let Me Love You" was one of the confirmed tracks.[3] This shows it was on the song board as "LMLY."
On March 11, 2016, Grande said in an interview on Ryan Seacrest that this was the first song recorded for Dangerous Woman. On March 15, 2016, in an interview, she called it one of her favorite songs on the album. She also revealed it's "slower, sexier and darker". Let me love you was also made with the Mimu Gloves.
On March 18, 2016, Grande and a few of her dancers held a live stream on Twitter, where she played the first minute of the song.[4] On March 28, 2016, Grande posted multiple snapchats of the same snippets she shared in the previous live stream, along with one more, as well as a string sample from "I Don't Care".
On April 17, 2016, Grande initially released the song in three countries. The next day, the song was officially released worldwide.[5]
Music video
The music was released May 16, 2016, on Apple Music Exclusive and May 22 on Vevo. It was directed by Grant Singer, produced by Jordan Harkins and Nina Soriano and the company Anonymous Content.
