"My Favorite Things" is a song by Julia Andrews from the 1965 musical "The Sound of Music". Ariana Grande sampled the song in her 2019 single "7 Rings", which legally bound that she would have to give up 90% of her song's royalties to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, who are credited as writers on the "My Favorite Things" and therefore among 10 songwriters on "7 Rings."
- The deal legally binding that Grande would have to give up 90% of her song's royalties to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II was mentioned in another of Grande's songs in that same year, "Monopoly" with Victoria Monét, through the lyrics:
|“||You'd be straight for life if I gave you my PIN (Yeah)
Even though we gave up that 90% for the win, go
Lyrics (from the 62nd Grammy Awards)
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so...
