The NYC Pride is an annual event celebrating the LGBTQ community in New York City. During the celebration, a music festival is also organized throughout the entire month, the most famous being Dance on The Pier. Grande headlined the 29th edition of the festival in 2015.

Grande did a performance at the festival on June 28, 2015, two days after her 22nd birthday. Her brother Frankie Grande opened the performance with a speech introducing her sister with the lyrics of "Break Free". The performance was followed by a firework show.
