Ariana posted a 45 second snippet of the track on her Twitter[1][2] and Instagram[3] with the caption "i miss making things can’t wait to get back to work but for now let’s stay inside pls" on March 24, 2020, becoming the first hint that she gave for Positions.
On February 8, 2023, a snippet of the demo featuring rapper Roddy Ricch leaked. The demo leaked in full three months later on May 22, 2023.
During the mass leak on March 27, 2023, the demo featuring rapper Lil Wayne leaked in full, along with all of the demos and most of the Pro Tool sessions.
