"Needy" (stylized in all lowercase) is the second track from Ariana Grande's fifth studio album, Thank U, Next.[1] It was released on February 8, 2019 through Republic Records.
The lyrics of the song are about Grande's insecurities in relationships.[2]
A live version of the song is featured on K Bye For Now (SWT Live), which was released on December 23, 2019.
Background
On October 4, 2018, Grande dropped a 45-second snippet on her Instagram with the caption "tell me how good it feels to be needed".[3]
On November 5, 2018, Grande posted a second snippet alongside a video of Piggy Smallz on her Instagram Story.[4] The song was also teased on the music video released on November 7, 2018, for Grande's single "Breathin" from her fourth studio album, Sweetener.[5] On November 15, Grande shared a video of her singing a part of "Needy" with a piano.[6]
Live performances
Grande debuted the song live on March 15, 2019 in a pre-recorded performance for the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards.[7] It is a regular part of the setlist of Grande's Sweetener World Tour, which began on March 18, 2019.

On the week ending February 23, 2019, the song debuted at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100.[8]
