"One Last Time" is the fifth and final single and third track from Ariana Grande's sophomore album, My Everything. It was initially released as the second promotional single on August 22, 2014, before becoming the final single from the album, which was released on February 10, 2015, through Republic Records. It was re-released as a charity single on June 3, 2017, for One Love Manchester.

The song debuted at #10 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 and peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.

One Love Manchester[]

The song was re-released as a charity single on June 3, 2017, due to the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing. The proceeds went to the victims and their families. At the end of the One Love Manchester, before "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", Grande and the rest of the artists performed "One Last Time" all together.

International Versions[]

A French remix of the song titled "One Last Time (Attends-moi)" featuring Kendji Girac was released onto iTunes on August 20, 2015, [1]. It is the second verse and parts of the chorus. A lyric video to this song was released only in France on February 19, 2015. In addition, Grande performed this version of the song at her second Paris performance on The Honeymoon Tour.

An Italian remix of the song featuring Fedez was released onto iTunes on May 26, 2015.

Live performances[]

Grande performed this song for the first time on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon after the Super Bowl on February 1, 2015.[2] "One Last Time" was apart of the setlists from her second and third concert tours, The Honeymoon Tour and the Dangerous Woman Tour. The song was also performed at 2 out of 4 of The Sweetener Sessions shows. It was initially included on the setlist for Grande's Sweetener World Tour but was later removed.

Music Video[]

During January 2015, Max Landis directed the music video for "One Last Time".[3][4] On February 6, all of the editing was completed and the final version was sent to Republic Records; on that same day, the lyric video was released onto Grande's VEVO channel. The music video was released on February 15, 2015.[5] Grande's friend, Matt Bennett, makes an appearance as her boyfriend. Liz Gillies, another one of Grande's friends made a voice appearance as the voice at the beginning on the tv.

Plot[]

The music video is about a fictional apocalypse where the Earth crashes through Comet Eurydice's tail which leads to utter chaos. The introduction features multiple news reports describing the chaos. Then, the video begins, showing Grande and her boyfriend in the car as people around them freak out. Grande gets out of the car despite his objects, and he follows her to keep her safe.

She then punches through the police and a crowd of people, and the camera goes into an ambulance where a man is dying of burns, then it passes by a house where three people are fighting over a gun. Grande enters a building and passes a family sitting on the sofa praying, then she enters a room that has caught fire from the heat of the comet. After this, she enters a room with many televisions playing different news channels and fights with a bearded man.

Meanwhile, a countdown to the west coast is destroyed starts. After walking down a long, burning hallway with firefighters evacuating people, Grande climbs up a flight of stairs and walks onto the rooftop. The video ends with her embracing her fictional boyfriend, played by Matt Bennett, as pieces of the comet fall from the sky and destroy the coast.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
I was a liar
I gave into the fire
I know I should’ve fought it
At least I’m being honest

Feel like a failure
'Cause I know that I failed you
I should’ve done you better
'Cause you don’t want a liar

[Pre-Chorus]
And I know, and I know, and I know
She gives you everything
But boy, I couldn’t give it to you
And I know, and I know, and I know that
You got everything
But I got nothing here without you

[Chorus]
So one last time
I need to be the one
Who takes you home
One more time
I promise after that
I’ll let you go
Baby, I don’t care if you got
Her in your heart
All I really care is you
Wake up in my arms
One last time
I need to be the one who takes you home

[Verse 2]
I don’t deserve it
I know I don’t deserve it
But stay with me a minute
I swear I’ll make it worth it

Can’t you forgive me?
At least just temporarily
I know that this is my fault
I should have been more careful

[Pre-Chorus]
And I know, and I know, and I know
She gives you everything
But boy, I couldn’t give it to you
And I know, and I know, and I know that
You got everything
But I got nothing here without you, baby

[Chorus]
So one last time
I need to be the one
Who takes you home
One more time
I promise after that
I’ll let you go
Baby, I don’t care if you got
Her in your heart
All I really care is you
Wake up in my arms
One last time
I need to be the one who takes you home

[Bridge]
(Ohh, ohh eehhhh)

I know I should've fought it
At least I'm being honest, ohh eeehhh
Just stay with me a minute
I swear I’ll make it worth it, babe

'Cause I don’t want to be without you

Ohhh, ohhh

[Chorus]
So one last time
(One last time!)
I need to be the one
Who takes you home
(Who takes you home, babe!)
One more time
I promise after that
I’ll let you go
(I'll let you go)
Baby, I don’t care if you got
(Baby, I don't care if you got)
Her in your heart
(Her in your heart, babe)
All I really care is you
Wake up in my arms
(Wake up in my arms!)
One last time
I need to be the one
(I need to be, eeh eeh)
Who takes you home
(Who takes you home)

[Outro]
One last time
I need to be the one
Who takes you home
