"Parachute" is an unreleased song by Ariana Grande that was intended for her debut album, Yours Truly (then titled Daydreamin').

Background[]

The song was intended for Grande's first debut album, Yours Truly, however, it got scrapped. Young Yonni, the producer of the song, had confirmed that him and Grande were working on a song called "Parachute" on August 26, 2011.[1] He also tagged the writer's who also co-wrote the song with them, crediting them for the lyrics.[2][3]

Ariana and Yonni had been working together since late October 2011, and continued to work together throughout 2012. After Grande turned down the song from her album, it was then given to another singer named Melanie Amaro, who also ended up scrapping the song.[4] The writer's demo is sung by Jade Novah, and it was leaked sometime in 2022. It was confirmed by reliable leakers that Grande's version was recorded, although it has yet to leak.

Trivia[]

  • Even though Young Yonni has since deleted his tweets, you can still find them online.[1]
  • Since Grande and Yonni worked on the song from 2011 to 2012, it's very likely that it almost made the album, but it was cut when they were deciding on the final tracklist.
  • The same day when Matt Squire and Grande were in the studio on March 28, 2012, Grande was still working on Parachute with Yonni.[5]

Lyrics[]

[Intro]
Yeah, ooh, yeah

[Verse 1]
You take me, you take me somewhere that I've never been
I'm ready, I'm ready to place my heart right in your hand
I'm not afraid to give you everything I am
Take me by the hand and lead the way

[Pre-Chorus]
I'm weightless, slow-motion when you're close to me
Your kiss puts me at zero gravity
Fearless, I can close my eyes and just drift away

[Chorus]
I'm falling, don't need to learn how to fly
You catch me between the ground and the sky
No worries, I'll just hold onto you
'Cause boy you are my parachute

[Post-Chorus]
Ooh, yeah

[Verse 2]
You want me, you want me to know I can rely on you
There's no one, there's no one, that takes me up as high as you
And when they see us floating by
They'll know that love is worth a try

[Pre-Chorus]
I'm weightless, slow-motion when you're close to me
Your kiss puts me at zero gravity
Fearless, I can close my eyes and just drift away

[Chorus]
I'm falling, don't need to learn how to fly
You catch me between the ground and the sky
No worries, I'll just hold onto you
'Cause boy you are my parachute

[Bridge]
High in the air, I don't wanna come down
And when I look up it's you all around

[Pre-Chorus]
I'm weightless, slow-motion when you're close to me
Your kiss puts me at zero gravity
Fearless, I can close my eyes and just drift away

[Chorus]
I'm falling, don't need to learn how to fly
You catch me between the ground and the sky
No worries, I'll just hold onto you
'Cause boy you are my parachute

[Outro]
'Cause boy you are my parachute
'Cause boy you are my parachute
High in the air, I don't wanna come down
