"Remember" (stylized in all lowercase; commonly stylized as "reMeMber") is an unreleased song by Ariana Grande that was the former eleventh track from her fifth studio album, Thank U, Next.[1]
Background[]
The title of the song was first teased on a departures board in Grande's music video for "Breathin", the third single from her fourth studio album Sweetener, prior to her decision of scrapping the song from the album.[2][3]
The first snippet of the song was leaked back on December 12, 2020. Another snippet had leaked sometime around August of 2021. Demo one of the song leaked on June 22, 2022, in medium quality, but a higher quality version was soon later leaked.
An edited version, that was confirmed to be similar to demo five leaked June 28, 2022, alongside the instrumental and acapella for it. A TV track version was also leaked. It was said that this was the final pop version, but it wasn't the final version overall.
All of the versions of the track leaked on March 27, 2023, alongside the Pro Tools session for the song during the mass leak. A couple of months later, on November 19, 2023, an earlier mix of the final was found in the Pro Tool session that wasn't with the rest of the bounced files. A unmixed demo of the reference final version leaked on January 4, 2024.

- This song features background vocals from Victoria Monét, much like many other songs.
- This song is about Grande's ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller who passed away on September 7, 2018, due to an accidental drug overdose.[4]
- The common stylization, "reMeMber", highlights his initials. However, this formatting most likely stemmed from the fans, as there's no evidence that Ariana or her team ever wrote it that way.
- The song was intended to be on Grande's fifth album, Thank U, Next, but it was replaced by "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored".[5][6]
- On Twitter, Grande had confirmed that she didn't want to release this song as she felt that it was too personal. She goes on to say that she wanted to end the album off on something fun, lighthearted, and funny.
- This song is referenced in the description of the Thank U, Next album on Apple Music.[7]
- The song was originally supposed to be the seventh track of the album (the song's title was teased on a departures billboard from Grande's music video for "Breathin".)
- However, a piece of paper allegedly written by Grande also suggests that it was the eleventh track at an earlier point in time.
- The 11:11 PM time beside the songs title holds a special significance, and is often linked to wish-making, signifying that angels are near and will help guide you.
- This song was recorded during the studio sessions of "Thank U, Next", "In The Moment", "My Hair", "Confused", "In My Head" & "Needy".
- Most versions sample "It's A Blue World" by The Four Freshmen in their intros. Mac Miller used this exact sample in his song "Blue World" from his 2020 posthumous album, Circles.
- The line "always kept it so cool, was tryna be just like you" is most likely a reference to Miller's song Dunno. The song also uses a similar bass melody to his song Circles.
- The line "still be hittin' your phone even though it ain't on" is most likely a reference to what Miller’s mom said in an interview in 2019.[8]
- Ariana called Mac 928 times knowing that he wouldn't be able to pick up the phone, just so she could hear his voicemail again.
