Background[]
The original version of "Save Your Tears" was released by The Weeknd on his fourth studio album, "After Hours," in 2020. On April 19, 2021, both Ariana and The Weeknd teased a snippet of the remix via social media.[1][2][3]
Composition[]
The key that "Save Your Tears (Remix)" is composed in is C Major.[4] Grande's vocals extends from the low note E3 to the high note E6 in her whistle register.[5][6] The lyrics of the remix depict a narrative of a complicated relationship, with both artists expressing their emotions and reflecting on past experiences.[7]
The Weeknd's signature synth-laden sound is present in the remix, creating a wistful and atmospheric atmosphere.[8]

Will Lavin, a columnist for National Musical Express (NME), commented that Grande contributed a unique and husky verse to the remix.[9] The website The Musical Hype stated that "She [Grande] sounds exceptional – as refined as ever."[10]

The song's official music video, directed by Jack Brown, was released along with the song on April 23, 2021.[11] The video is animated and the Weeknd appears in the sunglasses that mark his After Hours character, who is engineering an animated version of Grande.[12]

Lyrics[]
[Intro: The Weeknd & Ariana Grande]
Ooh (Ooh)
Na na, yeah
[Verse 1: The Weeknd]
I saw you dancing in a crowded room
You look so happy when I'm not with you
But then you saw me, caught you by surprise
A single teardrop falling from your eye
[Refrain: The Weeknd]
I don't know why I run away (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
I'll make you cry when I run away (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
[Pre-Chorus: The Weeknd]
Take me back 'cause I wanna stay
Save your tears for another
[Chorus: The Weeknd]
Save your tears for another day (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Save your tears for another day
[Verse 2: Ariana Grande]
(Mmm)
Met you once under a Pisces moon
I kept my distance 'cause I know that you
Don't like when I'm with nobody else
I couldn't help it, I put you through hell
[Refrain: Ariana Grande]
I don't know why I run away, oh, boy
Said I make you cry when I run away
[Pre-Chorus: Ariana Grande]
Boy, take me back 'cause I wanna stay
Save your tears for another
I realize that I'm much too late
And you deserve someone better
[Chorus: The Weeknd & Ariana Grande]
Save your tears for another day (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Save your tears for another day (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
[Refrain]
(Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum) I don't know why I run away (Ooh)
(Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum) I make you cry when I run away
[Chorus]
(Save) Save your tears for another day (Oh, yeah) (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
I said save (save) your (your) tears for another day, oh (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
[Outro]
Save your tears for another day (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Save your tears for another day (Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Save your tears for another day
