"Sober" is an unreleased song which was intended for Ariana Grande's fourth studio album, Sweetener.[1]
Background
Grande shared a few snippets of the song for the first time through Snapchat with the deer filter on September 9, 2016.
In March 2017, Grande confirmed that none of the songs she had teased on Snapchat would appear on the album. On May 30, 2018, Grande again confirmed that "My Way" and "Sober" would not appear on the album as they weren't meaningful enough.[1]
During a soundcheck on her Sweetener World Tour, she told fans that she wouldn't release because the song was now too personal, which leads some people to believe "Sober" was about Mac Miller when they were in a relationship.
