The Honeymoon Tour was Ariana Grande's second concert tour and debut arena tour in support of her second studio album My Everything, which was released on August 25, 2014. The tour began on February 28, 2015 in Independence, Missouri, and ended on October 25, 2015 in São Paulo, Brazil.

Background[]

On June 4, 2014, Grande signed a contract for her tour and announced that the tour wouldn't just be the United States.[1] She later revealed that the tour would start in February 2015.[2] Further on, it was announced that she would be visiting Brazil on the tour during an MTV Twitter takeover.[3] On September 5, 2014, Grande announced the first set of tour dates through a new fan app called Fahlo.[4] She revealed the first 26 dates and cities. European dates were announced on October 4, 2014.

Trivia[]

  • About seven weeks before the tour started, Grande created a YouTube channel called Honeymoon Diaries, where she would be posting videos related to the tour and rehearsals.
  • VIP fans who purchased Meet & Greet tickets got an Ariana Grande bag with bracelet and light up cat ears.[5][6][7]
  • The Meet & Greet was set up like a photo booth so fans got to go in (2 at a time) and take 3 pictures with Grande that were printed out.[8][9]
  • Grande's dogs Toulouse and Sirius went with Grande on tour but the rest of her dogs did not as they don't like traveling.[10]
  • During "Best Mistake", Grande stands on a fake cloud that gets lifted up over the stage.[11]
  • She was almost crushed by a lift while performing "Love Me Harder" on the opening night.
  • Big Sean joined Grande on tour on March 7, 2015 in Detroit. He rapped his verses in "Best Mistake" and "Right There" and they kissed on stage.
  • Justin Bieber joined Grande on stage on March 28, 2015 in Miami and they performed "Love Me Harder" and his songs "All That Matters" and "As Long As You Love Me".[12] He also came back on April 8, 2015 in Inglewood, California.
  • Grande got a "honeymoon" tattoo written in cursive on the side of her right middle finger.

Stage design[]

For her first world tour, Grande decided to go for a simple stage design but still had many interesting and unique elements. The main stage was divided in three levels, the lower one where Grande and her dancers would perform for most of the show, the middle and upper level was where the band was installed. Grande opens the show on the upper level of the stage. The screen was a classic rectangle LED panel, smaller screens were installed on the upper, middle and lower levels of the stage as well.

The stage also had a small prism-shaped catwalk. As most venues were rather small, this catwalk had to be on the smaller side to fit in all of the venues Grande performed in. During the show, Grande also performed on a cloud and chandelier gondolas, these elements gave a spectacular dimension for grande's debut world tour.

Opening Acts[]

Grande said that they tried to fit as many songs from My Everything and Yours Truly as they could but they couldn't play every song. Grande and her crew also confirmed that they put an "old song" that was a "fan favourite" in the setlist ("Pink Champagne").[13] She also used Mi.Mu Gloves during Why Try.
