"Thinking Bout You" is a song recorded by Ariana Grande for her third studio album, Dangerous Woman. It was released through Republic Records on May 20, 2016. Serving as the fifteenth and final track on the US standard edition of the album, as well as the international deluxe edition, "Thinking Bout You" is a melancholic anthem about self-pleasure set to a celestial, pulsating, and lush electronic instrumental.

Background

"Thinking Bout You" closes off the album on a high note, with Grande questioning where her lover is, pleading for them to come back to her. Grande soon takes matters into her own hands, turning her sense of longing into self-pleasure, fueled by the memories of her lover. The song ends with a sudden stop immediately after the final chorus, ending the album with a dual sense of completion and wonder.

On April 10, 2016, the Dangerous Woman tracklist was updated on iTunes to show five explicit songs on the album, with "Thinking Bout You" being one of them. Although the song does not contain any profane language (only the word "hell", which is censored on clean versions of the album), it is still labeled as explicit due to its sexual references.

Many fans wanted "Thinking Bout You" to be performed under the moon at the Sweetener World Tour in 2019. However, Grande stated via her now-defunct Twitter account that she would not be performing the song, deeming it "too sad".

Trivia

• When Grande initally revealed the tracklist for Dangerous Woman on Instagram, this song was named "Thinkin' Bout You" instead of "Thinking Bout You".
