Ariana Grande currently has 32 known tattoos. She also previously had 3 other tattoos that she's since had covered. She got her first inking in 2012 when she was 18.
This is Ariana's first tattoo, which she got in 2012 at the age of 18. It is a tattoo on the second toe of her right foot, and shows the bold outlining of a heart. Ariana says she got this tattoo while working on her debut album Yours Truly, and is also inspired by the song “Tattooed Heart” (which was one of her favourite songs from the album).
Ariana's second tattoo was writing on the back of her neck. It was done on March 14, 2014, and reads the words ‘Mille Tendresse’. This is a line from the movie Breakfast At Tiffany’s, which is one of Ariana’s favourite movies and stars her idol, Audrey Hepburn.
’Bellissima’ is something that Frank Grande, Ariana’s grandpa, used to call her. It is tattooed on her left side near her chest. Ariana also got this tattoo on the same day some of her friends got their first, which she claims was a real “bonding experience”. It means "gorgeous" in Italian.
Ariana announced that she had gotten a fourth tattoo on April 14, 2015. The tattoo is the outline of a crescent moon below her left ear. Her backup dancer and close friend Brian also got the same tattoo. It refers to the song “Moonlight”, off her third album Dangerous Woman. It could also be a reference to her Snapchat account since her current name is ’moonlight bae’.
On April 16, 2015, (at Ariana's meet and greet in Vancouver, Canada during The Honeymoon Tour) it was shown that Ariana had gotten two new small tattoos on her right fingers. It is a reference to her Honeymoon Tour and one of her personal favourite songs she’s ever recorded, “Honeymoon Avenue”. She said the song means so much to her because it’s a personal song and the events that occur in the song have happened to her in real life in a Q&A with Billboard in 2013.
The other tattoo (that she probably got at the same time as the honeymoon one) is a small Hebrew phrase on the side of her right ring finger. It is the tenth name in the 72 names of God which is spelled with the Hebrew letters aleph, lamed, and daled. The name "protects from the evil eye and bad dreams, and helps the rebirthing process." This tattoo is a reference to Ariana's faith which is Kabbalah.
Second Tattooed Heart
At Ariana's show in Paris during The Honeymoon Tour on May 14, 2015, it was shown that Ariana had gotten another tattoo. It is a small outline of a heart (like her first tattoo) on her right ring finger.
Ariana and Ricky Alvarez showed their new tattoos on Ariana's snapchat story (moonlightbae) June 13, 2015, They both joked about it and you couldn't see the tattoo itself. On November 22, 2015, at the AMAs you could see she had a tattoo on her toe on her left foot.
On January 14, 2016, Ariana posted a picture on Snapchat which showed she had gotten a tattoo on the inside of her finger which says "BABYDOLL" in capital letters. This is said to be a nickname her Nonna uses for her.
Ariana posted multiple pictures on her Instagram and Snapchat story on August 25, 2016, confirming she had gotten more tattoos, one of them being a small black outline of the female gender symbol on her left middle finger. She got this tattoo with her then boyfriend, Mac Miller.
On the same night as her female symbol tattoo, August 25, 2016, Ariana also got a tattoo of the letter A. Ariana explained on her Instagram and Snapchat that it was in reference to the first initial of longtime best friend, Alexa Luria, even though a lot of people thought she did it for her own name.
On May 22, 2017, Ariana's Dangerous Woman Tour concert in Manchester was attacked by a suicide bomber. Ariana flew back to Boca Raton, Florida the next day. The One Love Manchester benefit concert took place two weeks later to raise money for the victims who died and were injured in the attack.
