The currently untitled album is Ariana Grande's upcoming fifth studio album. The album was recorded starting on September 30, 2018.^[2]

Background

During a livestream on August 16, 2018, to promote her fourth studio album, Sweetener, which was released the next day, Grande confirmed that she had already started working on her next album because of how inspired she was feeling. Tommy Brown shared a snippet of a song, with Grande and her theam at studio on his Instagram story on October 4, 2018.^[3] Later that day, Grande shared a 45-second-snippet of a song on her Instagram with the caption "tell me how good it feels to be needed" which are lyrics from the song.^[4] On October 11, 2018 a paparazzi asked Grande if she would release another album before the end of the year, to which she said yes.^[5]

Recording

In the Sweetener livestream, on August 16, 2018, Grande confirmed that the album recording would start in September 2018. On October 1, 2018, she uploaded a picture at studio on her Instagram story.^[6] A day later, she uploaded more pictures, and revealed that at least nine song were recorded, tagging songwriters and producers Kaydence, Victoria Monét, Tayla Parx, Tommy Brown, Scootie and Mikey (from Social House).^[1]
