A twenty seven second snippet of the demo was leaked on January 26, 2017, showcasing the first verse. Several more snippets then leaked the following day on January 27, 2017.
On January 29, 2017, the full demo was leaked in low quality. Two days later a higher quality version leaked with clearer alternative vocals, without any mixing issues in the second pre-chorus, and without the cut-off of the final "you", showing that the production was in fact completed.
Trivia[]
- The opening line was originally "we're too young to die" but was changed to "we're born to fly", possibly to eliminate all references to death and to sustain the song's message of strength and empowerment.
- The same happened to "love's a battlefield" of the second verse, changed to "love's a playing field", more closely relating to football and the song's purpose of promo for the UEFA Euro 2016 Championship.
