  • On Wednesday August 23, 2018, Ariana was seen performing for fans at a listening session for her fourth studio album, Sweetener, in Chicago. While there, her manager, Scooter Braun, took to the stage to praise Grande and declare that her album would "100 percent" make it to number 1 that week. This led to Ariana taking a little dig at Scott, whose album, Astroworld, was currently on the Billboard Hot 200 chart in 2018. "We have three days left, you don’t know what Travis could pull", she said in a series of videos and recollections from fans at the event.[1][2] Grande is also defending and backing up Nicki Minaj, around the time when Minaj was going through some drama with both Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner.
  • Later that same day on August 23, 2018, Ariana took to Twitter, addressing the rumors going around online and explained herself that she was joking. She then tweeted "i adore travis & kylie and I love the astroworld album. a joke issa joke watch the video, stop using me for clickbait so i can come online n celebrate my number one too pls ! hip hip hooray !”[3]
  • Ariana then tweeted again, saying "also everything literally almost everything i say for comedic effect and am never serious …. like i’m always "on" …. if ever u think i’m being shady i’m jus goin for the laugh ….. if i’m being fr shady you’ll know i’m a v loving lil babe 👼"[4]
  • Ariana congratulated and showed some love to Travis for reaching the number #1 album and #1 single by tweeting, "so f**king dope. congratulations! 🖤." On December 3, 2018, she also addressed fans who were calling for her to throw shade instead of being humble.[5]
  • A fan then tweeted saying, 'mature legend, but lowkey we wanted some shade bc you did it fair and square but he didnt. but we love u bb', Ariana soon stepped in to defend Travis Scott.
  • Ariana responded to the fan by saying, 'if an artist you stanned were that close to having their first # 1 and they did all that they could in their power to get it (and they got it), you'd be celebrating. it's an exciting feeling. love u.'[6]
  • Travis didn't leave Ariana hanging either as he quote tweeted her a congratualtions message and tweeted, 'U know it blood gang sh*t.'[7]
  • Travis tweets at Ariana and says that a video she posted was Amazing (unsure what it was)[8]

  • They allegedly have a scrapped Positions collaboration together called "Called My Mind".[3]
