Wicked: For Good is an upcoming musical fantasy film directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. Following Wicked (2024,) it serves as a direct sequel and adapts the second part of the eponymous stage production.
Background[]
On April 26, 2022, it was confirmed that there will be two Wicked movies, as Jon M. Chu decided that they wanted to include as much of the orignial play as possible, and they didn't want "to force audiences to sit through four hours of movies."[1] On December 16, 2024, the film's title was confirmed to be Wicked: For Good.[2] The film's poster was revealed on March 30, 2025.[3] A trailer of the film was premiered at CinemaCon on April 2, 2025.[4]
Filming[]
Principal photography for Wicked: For Good started alongside its previous part Wicked, and it was nearly finished by July 2023. However, production was put on hold due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes. Both films resumed shooting on January 24, 2024, and wrapped on January 26, 2024.
